Karpenkov: special unit Tornado being created at Belarus’ internal troops
The internal troops continue to strengthen their special purpose forces, and following an order of the Interior Minister, work is underway to create another special purpose unit: the Tornado detachment will start operation on the basis of Military Unit No. 3310 in the Minsk Region – as informed by Major General Nikolai Karpenkov, Belarus’ Deputy Interior Minister and Commander of the Internal Troops, as part of his congratulation to servicemen and veterans on occasion of Day of Special Purpose Troops celebrated on November 2nd
Today's holiday has got special significance in 2023, which was declared by the internal troops the year of creation of special forces and development of their professional training. As noted by Mr. Karpenkov, eight new detachments of the special purpose troops have been formed to increase combat capabilities, and they are now undergoing an intensive course of combat training under the guidance of experienced instructors with real combat experience.
In his congratulation to the special forces – posted on the Internal Troops of the Interior Ministry Telegram channel, the Major General gave a list of new detachments of the special purpose troops: Rys and Berkut in Minsk, Storm in Brest, Typhoon in Grodno, Buran in Gomel, Cyclone in Ostrovets, as well as Smerch and Tchest from among volunteers and veterans.
