Karpenko: we hold election for our country and our people
Electoral security during the 2025 election is an absolute priority. Election in Belarus is only for the country and its people, said Chairman of Belarus’ Central Election Commission (CEC) Igor Karpenko during today’s press conference.
Noting the destructive work observed in social networks from the outside, Mr. Karpenko noted, “From abroad we hear certain calls to vote either against everyone or to boycott the election. We also hear statements about the non-recognition of the election. I would like to emphasise that we hold election first and foremost for our country and our people.”
At the same time, leaflets distributed by fugitive extremists abroad and calling to boycott the election were shown at the event. The CEC Head noted, “What can I say: we can’t stop them from making their inventions and fantasies. At one time, we came across stickers, various leaflets, and other attempts to somehow influence this [this or that election campaign in Belarus]. There is a good Chinese saying: no matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it.”
Using a paper shredder, Mr. Karpenko demonstrated how to deal with such leaflets of fugitive extremists.
“I urge our citizens to come to the polling stations and make their informed choice. As they say, the dogs bark but the caravan moves on,” he added.
