Joint statement released over Lukashenko's working visit to Oman
A joint statement has been released on the occasion of President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko's working visit to the Sultanate of Oman, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service
The several-day visit has been organised at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
Both leaders expressed their determination to work together to achieve common goals and build a relationship based on mutual respect and understanding. The sides highly appreciated the strengthening of bilateral contacts and stressed the importance of deepening partnership in the economic, political and cultural spheres. Clean energy, tourism, education, healthcare, technology, transport and logistics have been identified as areas for expanding the partnership.
Both sides welcomed the bilateral efforts to enhance industrial co-operation, including joint projects on the assembly of machinery in Oman.
The leaders called for interaction in the field of agriculture and food security. They welcomed the successful negotiations at the Oman AgroFood 2024 exhibition and expressed support for joint projects in the field of baby food and dairy products.
Both countries agreed that their respective bodies will explore the possibility of creating and directing the work of the Belarusian-Omani committee to support joint initiatives.
Belarus welcomed the introduction of a simplified visa regime for Belarusian citizens to travel to Oman for up to 14 days. The parties discussed the possibility of launching a direct flight between Belarus and Oman and an agreement on the mutual cancellation of visas.
The President and the Sultan exchanged views on regional and international issues, reaffirming their respect for international law and the UN Charter, stressing the importance of co-operation within international organisations to ensure peace and security.
Delegations from both sides held meetings to discuss their countries' development strategies and outline ways in which they can boost bilateral trade and investment and co-operate more closely on global issues such as food security.
The President of Belarus expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and invited the Sultan to visit Belarus.
