Interactive map of mineral resources being developed in Belarus

In order to have prompt and accessible information about the state of the mineral resource base, the development of an interactive map has been launched – as noted at a press conference by Deputy Director of the Belarusian State Geological Centre Aleksei Vavrish

“This issue has been on the agenda for a long time, especially since the Government of Belarus has recently focused a lot of attention on this activity. The map reflects information about mineral deposits in the context of districts and regions of Belarus, there is information on the degree of their exploration, on available reserves, as well as on the degree of development of the deposit,” the specialist explained.

According to him, the map will serve as an important tool for local and state bodies in making management decisions, as well as for subsoil users who are keen to develop deposits.

“In order to attract investments and develop deposits, our enterprises annually send information to the regional and executive committees about the mineral deposits available in their territories, as well as the degree of their development. Moreover, the Belarusian State Geological Centre is working to provide the Republican Commission on Mineral Resources which considers the materials obtained as a result of geological exploration and approves the reserves for each particular field,” added Aleksei Vavrish.
