FM warned about possibility of new criminal cases against initiators of sanctions against Belarus
Illegal restrictive measures that are being introduced against Belarus may become a legitimate basis for new criminal cases against those who initiated them – as stated by Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, sb.by reports
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has studied similar statements by the European Union and individual member states in connection with the elections held in the republic. “The recent conclusions of the EU Council and the decision to extend illegal sanctions have been taken into account. All these texts with pre-prepared conclusions provide no new information, and we view them as ongoing unsuccessful attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of our country. We note that the new illegal restrictive measures that are being introduced against Belarus are the subject of study for law enforcement agencies and may become a legitimate basis for new criminal cases against those who initiated them, including those who have already been convicted of similar crimes, but still evade serving their sentences as they stay abroad," the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported.
It is noted that the rhetoric of the studied statements is replete with outright falsifications, a lot of passages and slogans divorced from reality.
"The EU's declared ‘support for the people of Belarus’ against the background of countless economic restrictions imposed against the republic is nothing but cynical duplicity. The trade bans and the stoppage of air and passenger rail services, the closure of checkpoints and the introduction of a de facto ban on the supply of vital medicines to Belarus, the forced ban on the operation of sanatoriums for children and other restrictive EU measures on interaction with Belarus are of an indiscriminate collective nature and are aimed at the vast majority of ordinary Belarusians. Please note that our country has not taken a single step against the EU, business or its citizens on its own initiative," the source stated.
As noted by the Foreign Ministry, the declaration by the European Union of its concerns about the internal policy of Belarus looks pointless while simultaneously rejecting the European bureaucracy and the majority of EU members from direct interstate interaction with the authorities of independent and sovereign Belarus. The Foreign Ministry recalled that the republic has repeatedly stated its readiness for an equal and mutually respectful dialogue with any forces in the West that are ready for such a conversation. Minsk proceeds from the fact that only dialogue and interaction make it possible to remove any concerns and resolve any problems.
