First Belarus-made aircraft to roll off assembly line in 2026
In 2024, the 558th Aircraft Repair Plant launched the implementation of a new import-substitution integration project to organise the production of aircraft, parts, assembly units, and technological equipment in Belarus within the framework of industrial co-operation with Russian aircraft manufacturing enterprises. This will enable Belarus to produce 30 Osvey aircraft per year by 2030, with the first aircraft rolling off the assembly line already in 2026 – as noted by Maksim Antonyuk, the Chairman of the Baranovichi City Executive Committee.
“By late 2024, Br8.2m is expected to be invested in new production,” said Mr. Antonyuk.
The Osvey is a light multipurpose 19-seat high-wing aircraft powered by turboprop engines. It is designed for the needs of state aviation, with the possibility of its use in civil aviation, including for commercial air transportation.
The aircraft is being developed as part of a comprehensive interdepartmental co-operation programme between Russia and Belarus in the field of aircraft engineering. The Ural Works of Civil Aviation (Yekaterinburg) and the 558th Aircraft Repair Plant are involved in the development.
The Baranovichi Aircraft Plant is also currently conducting a comprehensive modernisation of its main production facility, with Br25.1m injected in it since 2021.
