Expert: US lives in debt, but doesn’t want to pay it back
The United States of America began to live in debt when it became necessary to maintain its hegemony – as noted by Vladimir Vasiliev, chief research fellow at the Institute for the US and Canadian Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in his talk with the Soloviov LiveTV channel
The expert drew attention to the fact that the US authorities do not want to talk about this problem.
“Today, you will not find information about the most painful moment in the United States anywhere. Many American figures are simply inflated. The country lives in debt, beyond its means, but nobody wants to talk about this, but this is the central, fundamental point. Moreover, the United States began to live in debt just when it needed to maintain its hegemony. It was necessary either to rebuild or to take a simple path,” Vladimir Vasiliev noted.
The expert said that today the issue of how to return debts is very acute for the United States.
“But there isn’t any way to return debts, and that’s the whole problem. Today, no one will ask about debt dependence. There is another important point. <...> If you try to find information about the decline of America on the net, you’ll see dozens of works, even hundreds of them. Today, this issue is being actively discussed by American experts,” said Vladimir Vasiliev.
Earlier, President of the US Heritage Foundation Kevin Roberts said that the US government should focus on solving domestic problems and not allocate a new financial assistance package to Ukraine. According to him, ‘the US economy has weakened significantly’.
