Expert: Presidential election in 2025 is war avoidance election

Deputy of the House of Representatives, leader of the Belaya Rus party Oleg Romanov told the Belarus 1 TV channel how the upcoming Presidential election in 2025 will affect the preservation of peace in Belarus

Oleg Romanov noted that it is possible to give a name to the upcoming election. “The Presidential election of 2025 is a war avoidance election. We will hold our election, choosing the president, whom the Belarusian people consider proper to lead our country in order for Belarus to preserve peaceful development and prevent scenarios that, at least indirectly, with low probability, suggested the outbreak of a war in the republic. Whereas the arrival of our opponents, as the Head of State quite rightly said, would mean an inevitable start of a war. I would like to add that it has long been necessary to abandon these politically correct words like opponents and counterparts: these are enemies of our country, enemies of our people. And there they say, ‘history does not know the subjunctive mood’. No, we are quite capable of making the opposite forecast, we can understand where certain trends in the development of society will lead to. As people capable of analysis, we understand perfectly well that the trends set by our enemies in the 2020 election mean directly and inevitably a war on our territory. That’s why I will view the forthcoming election in 2025 as a war avoidance election,” the expert concluded.
