Expert explained grounds for high efficiency of Belarusian army

According to one of the latest studies, the Belarusian army is at least among the two dozen most combat-ready ones in the world in terms of its effectiveness, and the Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Vadim Gigin, explained the grounds for such results

“When this news was released, our opponents – to put it mildly – lost their ability to talk and began saying nonsense. A fairly authoritative edition of US News & World Report surveyed 17.2 thousand respondents from 36 countries according to 73 criteria. The Belarusian army took the 12th place, ahead of the armies of France, Japan, and others. The respondents included businessmen, politicians, and journalists. Several categories were defined, and the result of the study is known. In any case, whatever it was, we have achieved our goal. How does a potential opponent assess whether he should attack or not? This is being done according to the feeling that has developed in society, among other aspects. Public opinion has a very serious impact on making such decisions. If the Belarusian army has such a status in the world public opinion, it means that we have at least achieved our goal of creating an appropriate information field around the national security system of Belarus,” Mr. Gigin told Alfa Radio.

The expert believes the creation of an information field around the national security system is the ultimate goal. “The supreme art of ensuring defence capability is to achieve the protection of one's interests without using the armed forces. We are achieving this goal now. Belarus is near the front, and it is often mentioned in the news. At the same time, the country provides training grounds, and this means it has such grounds. There is a talk about Belarus’ weapons, which means the country has its own defence industry. There are now tactical nuclear weapons in the republic. True, they are Russian, but Belarusian crews are involved, and Belarusian aircraft and rocket launchers are available. There are Iskanders, S-400s, and combat-ready aircraft. The list can be continued. It is clear that specialists, businessmen, politicians and ordinary people have the impression that Belarus is seriously pumped up in this regard," he stressed.

Mr. Gigin recalled that the President said earlier that Belarus does not want to fight, but it will be able to respond if necessary. “This is, in fact, an objective assessment of our Commander-in-Chief, which coincides with this opinion. As regards other issues, Belarus – though being not so large – is also among the top combat-ready armies. Various reputable institutions have conducted studies, and I am not talking now about some garbage research, where the Lebanese army is ahead of the Iranian one. I do not actually know what kind of research it is. Meanwhile, the objective ones place Belarus on a quite high position,” he emphasised.
