The document was developed by the Belarusian and Chinese sides in the development of the agreements reached during the meeting of the heads of environmental agencies of the two countries on September 21st, 2023, as part of the visit of the delegation of Belarus’ Ministry of Natural Resources to China.
The roadmap provides for a number of specific co-operation measures in such an important area as reducing the negative anthropogenic impact on the environment in order to ensure favourable living conditions for the population, improve the state of the environment, as well as mitigate the effects of climate change and adapt to it in the interests of sustainable environmentally oriented socio-economic development. Other areas of joint work include atmospheric air quality and integrated waste management, conservation and restoration of biodiversity, promotion of smart cities and environmentally friendly transport, increasing the capacity of environmental institutions, and ensuring compliance with legislation in the field of environmental protection.
It is noted that, in order to implement the roadmap, the Belarusian and Chinese sides can create working groups, hold meetings, conferences, organise visits and other events.
"The signed document will become a valuable contribution to the treasury of bilateral relations between Belarus and China and will serve to further deepen the all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries," the Ministry of Natural Resources stressed.
