In general, the parties discussed a fairly wide range of issues: from joint investment projects to agriculture and construction.

Alexander Drozdenko shared his impressions, “The most important aspect underlined by Aleksandr Grigoryevich is that everything that we agreed on during previous meetings has been fulfilled today or is at the final stage. This is very important when the President gives instructions to the Government following the meeting, and we – as part of our working commission between the Government of Belarus and the Leningrad Region – accept these instructions for execution, preparing a roadmap and implementing the necessary steps.”

The development of tourism is one of the areas of co-operation between Belarus and the Leningrad Region. According to the Russian governor, the potential of Belarusian resorts should be used not only for the Leningrad Region residents, but also for rehabilitation after injuries or disability acquired during the especial military operation.

“In this regard, Aleksandr Grigoryevich suggested to look at Belarus’ opportunities, saying that the country is ready to provide help and support,” Mr. Drozdenko said.

He also added that now – by agreement of public organisations and with the support from Belarus’ Interior Ministry – the families (wives and children) of military personnel of the Leningrad Region who take part in the special military operation are visiting the republic, “Our families have arrived in Belarus and have already visited Minsk, Brest, Khatyn. The feedback from children and mothers is very positive. They say that ‘it’s like we’ve come to visit our relatives, as we’re greeted very warmly’. This is also an indicator of work.”

Speaking about the expectations from the upcoming Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia, the Governor of the Leningrad Region said that a number of documents with Belarusian partners will be signed on the sidelines of the event, “We’re liaising with the Brest, Minsk, Mogilev, and Vitebsk regions. We will sign a new co-operative agreement with the Brest Region. I will participate in several sections, focusing on healthcare, interregional and economic co-operation. We have arrived as a whole delegation in various directions.”
