Defence Minister: conditions for preventing military aggression against Belarus aimed to be created

The intent for Belarus’ defence in the medium term, approved today, December 12th, by President Aleksandr Lukashenko at a meeting of the Security Council, will subsequently become the basis for a defence plan and allow the General Staff and all government agencies involved in the intent development to begin planning the defence of Belarus in case of aggression against the republic – as stated by Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin following the Security Council meeting with the participation of the President

The Defence Minister noted that the intent had been developed on the basis of an in-depth investigation of events in 2020 in Belarus, the special military operation in Ukraine, and as a result of an analysis of the National Security Concept and Military Doctrine approved at the Belarusian People’s Congress.

Viktor Khrenin emphasised that this is a planned work, and it is guided by no emergency, “We proceed from the fact that we do not have any aggressive plans against other states. Our goal is to create conditions for preventing military aggression and dragging our country into war – and also to repel an aggressor if this happens.”
