CSTO plans to conduct a series of exercises on western borders in 2023
The CSTO plans to hold several exercises on the western borders next year – as stated by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas during a press conference on the results of the CSTO activities in 2022 and the results of the regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan, BelTA reports
Answering the question about the need to strengthen the western borders, Stanislav Zas stressed that the events on the territory of Belarus, which are held jointly with Russia, are a certain measure of deterrence.
“That’s enough in this situation. Next year, a number of exercises are planned by the CSTO, and this can also be considered as a measure of strategic deterrence,” he explained, adding that there are no plans to build up the CSTO peacekeeping forces yet.
“At the same time, if necessary, we can very quickly deploy a large grouping of our peacekeeping forces. We have everything for this,” the CSTO Secretary General said.
