Container with radioactive isotope Germanium-68 went missing in the US

The cargo, which contained the radioactive isotope Germanium-68, went missing under unknown circumstances in the United States, RIA Novosti reports

According to the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a cancer treatment centre in New Jersey sent a radioactive cargo with the Germanium-68 isotope in a container for disposal earlier in December, but it did not reach its destination.

It is reported that the shipping container arrived at its destination damaged and empty. The licensee [cancer treatment centre] filed a claim with the shipper. If the source is not found within 30 days, the licensee will submit a full written report, including the main causes and corrective actions.
