US official admitted effect of anti-Russian sanctions fell short of predictions
The White House’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said predictions concerning the effect of sanctions on the Russian economy did not come true, TASS reports
Speaking at the 92NY culture centre (New York), Sullivan touched on restrictions imposed by the United States and their allies after the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. According to him, it would be fair to say that forecasts concerning the effect of sanctions on the Russian economy were off the mark, definitely when it comes to the timelines projected back in 2022.
Sullivan also believes that the strain on the Russian economy will be growing as time passes.
He added that he can’t tell the exact time when their combined effect is going to put the Russians under real pressure that would bring them to the negotiating table.
