Chinese Foreign Ministry: sanctions to hit trust and co-operation between China and EU
Trust between the European Union and the People's Republic of China will be destroyed if Brussels imposes sanctions against Chinese companies allegedly for helping Russia – as stated by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, RIA Novosti reports
The official has commented on the publications reading that the European Union is discussing restrictive measures against the Chinese companies that – as it considers – render support to the Russian Federation. "If the relevant reports are true, then the European side can seriously violate trust and co-operation with China, exacerbate the split and confrontation in the world," the diplomat said.
Wang Wenbin added that China calls on the European Union ‘not to follow the wrong path’ and assured that otherwise Beijing will firmly defend its legitimate rights and interests.
