BSMU Rector: Belarusian medical education enjoys demand all over the world

Rector of the Belarusian State Medical University Sergei Rubnikovich delivered a speech at the International Dental Forum in Minsk

“The 10th anniversary dental congress has gathered in Minsk. It is dedicated to innovations in dentistry and maxillofacial surgery. We are also holding a Belarusian-Russian-Uzbek forum, which has attracted representatives of medical universities and scientific schools of our countries,” Mr. Rubnikovich said.

This year, young specialists and students from Belarus and Russia have come to Minsk. For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, Italian specialists have arrived, bringing their latest technologies to share. The forum has also for the first time gathered representatives of universities from the regions of Russia: Ufa, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, and Kazan.

Mr. Rubnikovich stressed that the Belarusian State Medical University continues to successfully attract students from all over the world, and their number has doubled this year. “In 2023, we enrolled about 400 foreigners, and there are almost 600 of them this year. Young people have arrived from 60+ countries. Belarusian medical education enjoys demand all over the world. It is of high quality, and it has preserved the best traditions – thanks to the support of the Head of State,” he added.

As the rector noted, the university is actively working not only on education, but also on practical assistance. “Our medical care should be aimed at people. Since the beginning of the year, BSMU specialists have been providing medical assistance in the Minsk Region and other regions of the country. In six months, there were 150+ such visits, over 2,000 patients were operated on or consulted,” Mr. Rubnikovich said.
