Brantsevich: NSSD 2040 project is based on sustainable development ideology

Ms. Brantsevich reminded that Belarus’ National Strategy for Sustainable Development 2040 is focused on maintaining the balance between the three areas: ‘strong economy’ — ‘social responsibility’ — ‘environment security’. A system-based approach was used to develop the strategy.
“First of all, our strategy is aligned with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Second, it prioritizes national security: demography, technological sovereignty, and environmental balance. Third, our document is based on the Comprehensive Scientific and Technical Progress Outlook till 2045, which makes it more innovation-focused. It’s worth noting that we developed the NSSD 2040 project in constant communication with all stakeholders. Throughout the year, we had multiple meetings, round tables, foresight sessions at different venues discussing and analysing global trends, risks and opportunities for our country together with experts, scientists and business representatives. Those productive discussions helped us a lot,” said the Deputy Minister.
