Belarusian delegation taking part in UN session
From February 28th to March 4th, the city of Nairobi is hosting the fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2), as well as a special session dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of UNEP – sb.by was informed in the Belarusian Embassy to Kenya
“The overall theme for UNEA-5 is Strengthening Actions for Nature to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. In the course of its implementation, it is planned to discuss initiatives aimed at solving environmental problems,” noted the Belarusian diplomatic mission.
A delegation of the Republic of Belarus, consisting of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk, the Belarusian Ambassador to Kenya, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to UNEP Pavel Vzyatkin, alongside representatives of the Belarusian diplomatic mission and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, takes part in the work of the assembly and the session in a remote and in-person format.
Earlier, Belarusian Ambassador Pavel Vzyatkin took part in a tree planting ceremony in Nairobi city park dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
“The guests of the event with the participation of the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Keriako Tobiko, planted 193 seedlings, symbolising the UN member states. From Belarus, the plant Juniperus procera (also known by the common name East African Juniper) took its place in the alley,” added the diplomatic mission of our country.
