Belarus, Serbia expanded commodity range of exchange trade

According to the results of trading held at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), two new items – herbicides and seeds for sowing – appeared in the structure of Belarus-Serbia exchange turnover. The first deals for the purchase of these goods were concluded by the Belarusian enterprises in early January 2025. Until then, Serbian companies had been acting exclusively as importers at BUCE, purchasing Belarusian sawn timber, milk powder, butter and cheese, sb.by reports citing the BUCE press service.

“In the context of exchange trade development, the expansion of the commodity range is always a positive phenomenon, as it creates prerequisites for increasing mutual trade and new participants coming to the exchange platform. Speaking directly about Serbia, co-operation with this country has noticeably intensified in 2024. Thus, the amount of transactions increased more than 37 times compared to 2023 – mainly due to supplies of Belarusian dairy products to the Serbian market. Skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder were in the highest demand, accounting for 64 percent of Belarusian sales to Serbia,” BUCE spokesperson Roman Yaniv noted.

Exchange trading in plant protection products, fertilisers and seeds for the domestic market is held at BUCE twice a week. In 2024, the total amount of transactions in these commodity areas totalled Br537.2m – up 13 percent compared to 2023. In addition to residents of Belarus, companies from Germany, Denmark and France participated in trade sessions and made transactions.
