Belarus’ Red Cross Secretary General about areas of international interaction
We can improve ourselves endlessly within the country, but if we do not learn from the experience of our colleagues, then no one will know about us, and progress will be insignificant – as noted by Secretary General of the Belarus Red Cross Society Dmitry Shevtsov
He stated that in modern conditions one of the main activities of the Belarusian Red Cross is international co-operation.
“Therefore, we can improve ourselves endlessly within the country, but if we do not learn from the experience of our colleagues, then no one will know about us, and progress will be insignificant,” Mr. Shevtsov noted.
The Secretary General spoke about liaisons with Russia, “In the framework of collaboration with the Russian Red Cross, we are training their specialists in the home care programme. This is very developed in our country, and our partners from other national societies and other Red Cross federations have repeatedly visited us. To date, we have already trained 16 people. Moreover, the geography is large, covering people from Astrakhan, Novgorod and other regions of the Russian Federation. By late November, we plan to accept another group: about ten people. They receive here theoretical and practical training. We conducted such classes in the Gomel and Grodno regions, and in Minsk.”
