Belarus increased shipment through Russian ports 1.5-fold

Belarus has increased the volume of transportation through Russian ports by one and a half times – as noted by Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Yaroshevich in an interview with the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House. According to him, for any enterprise it is important not only to produce goods, but also to sell them profitably, ensuring the fastest possible delivery to consumers. Therefore, logistics issues are one of the key aspects in the updated business strategies of our manufacturers.

“Today, in order to reorient commodity flows from the western direction to the East and the South-East, a whole range of tasks is being solved related to the supply of components, the development of new logistics routes, the search for partners, and the transition to other currencies in settlements,” explained the Minister.

He noted that negotiations are currently underway with friendly countries to increase the number of permits for carriers.

“The first positive results have been already achieved. The volume of transportation through Russian ports has been increased one and a half times. Rail container traffic to China tripled. Permits were obtained for the existing quotas for international transportation in Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and China. The transport industry has been significantly supported by the measures for the transfer / transshipment of goods coming from the EU countries, providing work for our carriers,” he added.

Dmitry Yaroshevich also said that demand for transportation within the country increased by a quarter in Q2, and a quick reorientation to eastern directions enabled our country to largely compensate for the sagging European direction.
