Belarus, Pakistan confirm mutual interest in intensifying bilateral relations
Belarus’ Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik has met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Belarus, Sajjad Haider Khan – as reported by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service
The two sides exchanged congratulatory messages to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Pakistan (celebrated on February 3rd, 1994), underlining the high level of Belarusian-Pakistani relations achieved over the past three decades, with special focus placed on the results of bilateral trade-economic liaisons. The positive dynamics of interaction between the two countries in international organisations was also noted. The Belarusian side expressed gratitude to Pakistan for supporting Belarus’ application to join the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation and prompt ratification of the memorandum of commitments in order to obtain the status of a SCO member state. The Foreign Ministry said that during the meeting issues of interaction across all dimensions of the SCO were discussed.
The sides have also outlined work plans for 2024, including exchange of visits, holding inter-ministerial consultations and a range of thematic events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, confirming mutual interest in intensifying the entire range of bilateral relations between Belarus and Pakistan.
