Belarus’ Economy Ministry: exports reached maximum values since 2012
In 2023, Belarus’ trade turnover increased by 8.6 percent to reach $83.4bn – as reported by the Economy Ministry’s press service
It is noted that exports have reached their highest levels since 2012, indicating the effectiveness of the measures taken to reorient trade flows to the markets of friendly countries.
In 2023, sales grew both in the CIS (104.1 percent) and non-CIS states (106 percent). Domestic products continue to enjoy high popularity among foreign consumers, with Belarusian goods currently present in the markets of over 150 countries.
The Economy Ministry explained that last year’s increased imports are linked to production and investment programmes. Thus, an increase in the supply of raw materials enabled Belarus to increase industrial production by 7.7 percent. The import of machinery and equipment ensures the modernisation and re-equipment of production, while also increasing our export potential.
The growth in imports of consumer goods is due to pent-up demand, as well as an increase in Belarusians’ real incomes. This year, the export growth rate is planned at the level of 7.6 percent.
