The Minsk Military Commandant's Office hosted a training and methodological meeting for officers of the ideological work bodies under the leadership of Major General Leonid Kasinsky, the Assistant to the Defence Minister for Ideological Work in the Armed Forces, Chief of the Main Ideological Directorate at Belarus’ Defence Ministry. The event was attended by deputy commanders of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces, special operations forces, troops of operational commands, the head of the Department of Transport Support at the Defence Ministry, heads of military educational institutions, commanders of formations and military units for ideological work, heads of ideological work departments at regional and Minsk military commissariats, as well as students of the General Staff Faculty of Belarus’ Military Academy and cadets.
The Defence Minister delivered a report at the meeting. He analysed the main trends in the development of the military-political situation around Belarus, as well as the tasks assigned to the bodies of ideological work to maintain the combat potential of the Armed Forces.
Mr. Khrenin stressed that the former structure of the world is irrevocably passing away, while an intransigent struggle for the creation of a new one is in full swing, “It is intransigent primarily for the reason that this is not even a fight for power or for geopolitical influence. This is a clash of the principles on which relations between countries and peoples will be built at the next historical stage. Its outcome will determine whether a just and lasting peace will be ensured that will allow all states to develop, or whether confrontation will lead to the plunging of humanity into the abyss of aggressive anarchy, internal and external splits, the loss of traditional values, new forms of dictate, and the actual abandonment of basic human rights and freedoms.”
The Defence Minister expressed confidence that the stability of the state depends on the stability of the Armed Forces, which are the most consolidated and active patriotic part of the Belarusian society. “It is you and me that the enemies consider as a force that especially prevents them from shaking the government, society and destroying the Belarusian statehood," he added.
At the meeting, Mr. Khrenin also awarded the military representatives who had achieved the best results in their service.
