Belarus’ Council of Ministers approved action plan to protect children against sexual violence and exploitation
Upon an initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office, Belarus’ Council of Ministers has approved an action plan to protect children against sexual violence and exploitation. In addition, a mechanism for the rehabilitation of victims of sexual violence has been approved.
At the suggestion of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Interior Ministry has prepared a draft law On Amendments to Belarus’ Criminal Code. Along with punishment for a crime by a court verdict, the regulation envisages compulsory treatment of persons suffering from paedophilia.
The Healthcare Ministry has developed and approved a clinical protocol containing an algorithm for treatment of persons suffering from paedophilia, including with the use of chemical castration.
In addition, taking into account international experience, measures have been taken to develop affordable sexological care for the population.
The set of measures taken will contribute to the prevention of such crimes, the identification and timely provision of assistance to persons suffering from certain sexual abnormalities.
The Head of State supported the initiatives of the Prosecutor General's Office on working out issues related to strengthening the responsibility of parents for improper upbringing of children; establishing administrative responsibility for promoting non-traditional sexual relations, changing of gender identity, paedophilia and childfree; introducing a mandatory course on the topic of sex education of children and youth into the educational process; strengthening control over previously convicted persons, including with the use of electronic bracelets.
