Belarus’ consulates general to open in three major Russian cities
In the coming future, consulates general of Belarus will be opened in three major cities of Russia, and an agreement in principle has been reached with the Russian side – as informed by Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister, Igor Nazaruk, after the opening ceremony of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Grodno
According to Mr. Nazaruk, Belarus’ Consulate General will open in St. Petersburg in the very near future, and then offices in Rostov-on-Don and Yekaterinburg will follow.
“Embassy offices are already operating in these cities, as well as in a number of other regions. Accordingly, it will be easier for us to transform them by giving a new diplomatic status. In addition, we plan to open new branches in Russian regions so that we cover Russia and Belarus with a denser network of interaction, since many issues are resolved directly on the ground with regional and local leadership. Therefore, having regional diplomatic missions, it is very easy and effective to further establish and promote co-operation. We have plans for Voronezh, Krasnodar, possibly Krasnoyarsk, and the issues related to approval procedures are in focus now. After all, these are interstate relations, they are built according to their own logic. Moreover, these are financial and material issues that are raised during the implementation of such projects. In any case, I can assure you that Belarus will find funds for these noble and very positive goals,” the Deputy Foreign Minister explained.
