Aleinik held talks with President of National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba

Belarus’ Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik, as part of his working trip to Cuba, held talks with President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández

According to the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, Sergei Aleinik said that relations between the two countries have a history and a bilateral agenda that closely unites both peoples, the will to strengthen economic and parliamentary ties, as well as close co-ordination in the international arena.

“We appreciate and cherish our relationship thanks to the resistance and resilience of Cuba. We are here to strengthen our friendship, economic liaisons and develop political dialogue,” stressed the Head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. In this regard, he noted the great potential for interaction within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.

During the talks Esteban Lazo Hernández indicated that both states maintain a broad political dialogue at different levels, which Cuba considers valuable, friendly and aimed at developing bilateral relations in all areas of interest and mutual benefit, based on traditional and historical ties of brotherhood between the nations.

“We confirm our interest in strengthening relations at the highest level between the Belarusian Parliament and the National Assembly of People’s Power. We have a parliamentary friendship group, and we believe that co-operation between both legislative bodies can be strengthened through permanent working commissions across various fields such as culture, health, education, the environment and others,” said Esteban Lazo Hernández.
