Almost 10,5 thousand people died in 2024 on the borders of Spain, RIA Novosti reports
The Caminando Fronteras human rights organisation, which monitors migration routes, reported, “In 2024, 10,457 people died on Spain's borders, making it the deadliest year in the country's history."
It is specified that the largest number of victims was registered on the sea routes leading to the Canary Islands, reaching which almost 9.7 thousand people died. This route remains one of the most dangerous in the world for migrants trying to reach Europe.
