Xiaoyong: China-Belarus trade turnover increased by 33% in 2022 to make $5.08bn
The year 2022 was fruitful and successful for Belarus and China – as noted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus, Xie Xiaoyung
“Co-operation in various fields has brought many gratifying results. Firstly, the two states’ presidents – Xi Jinping and Aleksandr Lukashenko – exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, our countries jointly held scientific seminars, photo exhibitions, book release ceremonies, film weeks and other various festive events. Secondly, bilateral relations have reached a new level. Last September, President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandr Lukashenko held a bilateral meeting in Samarkand on the side-lines of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation summit and prepared a joint declaration on raising the Chinese-Belarusian relations to the level of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership. Thirdly, our countries continue to support each other on issues related to the fundamental interests and important concerns of both countries, to protect international impartiality and justice. Fourthly, our trade and economic co-operation has set a new record. According to the Chinese statistics, from January-October 2022, the volume of bilateral trade exceeded the figures of the whole 2021 – to reach $5.08bn by the end of the year (a 33 percent growth against the same period). Fifthly, the traditional friendship between our peoples has strengthened even more. More than 7,000 Chinese young people study in Belarus, while universities, analytical centres, mass media and cultural institutions of our two states have organised various events, combining online and offline formats,” the diplomat said.
