Xi Jinping: Beijing to support peace conference recognised by Moscow and Kiev
China will support a peace conference on the Ukrainian crisis if the event is approved by Russia and Ukraine – as stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, TASS reports
“We urge all parties to resume dialogue, gradually strengthening mutual trust, and support the organisation – at the appropriate time and with the approval of both Russia and Ukraine – of an international peace conference with equal participation of all parties and fair discussion of all peace plans,” Xi Jinping said at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron after the French-Chinese summit in Paris.
The President of the PRC underlined that China did not start the Ukraine crisis, nor is it a party to or a participant in it, but instead of being an onlooker, China has been playing an important role for building peace. According to the Chinese leader, history persistently proves that any conflict ultimately ends in negotiations.
