WHO says the world will not be ready for new pandemic

The world is not ready for a new pandemic now – as stated by the Director General of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, at a press conference in Jakarta, RIA Novosti reports

The WHO Head noted that certain lessons should be learned from the coronavirus pandemic. According to Mr. Ghebreyesus, this is the only way to prevent a new pandemic. “By the way, we are in the middle of the pandemic. The world is not ready. If another virus hits, a new pandemic starts, we still will not be ready," he said.

Mr. Ghebreyesus stressed that special attention should now be paid to the implementation of recommendations to combat coronavirus.
