Volodin: Union State enormous potential waiting to be tapped
The Union State budget for 2024 is filled with a large number of plans and activities, but the two countries’ leadership needs to unite more and work even more efficiently to counteract the unfriendly policies of Western countries – as stated by Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and Chairman of Russia’s State Duma, at the 65th session of the Parliamentary Assembly, held today in Moscow
Vyacheslav Volodin noted that the presidents of Belarus and Russia set the main dynamics in co-operation between the two states, “We must give Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin their due; they set both the dynamics and the bar for this co-operation. For our part, within the framework of the parliamentary dimension, we must do everything to legislatively ensure the decisions taken and, within the framework of inter-parliamentary co-operation, contribute to the development of relations between our countries and peoples.”
The speaker noted that the budget for 2024 is filled with significant content and a number of events, “We must unite even more, work even more efficiently to counteract the unfriendly policies of European states and the US, which are doing everything to strangle our countries and prevent our peoples from making their own decisions about their future. As you can see, despite all the attempts of Western countries, GDP is growing in Russia and Belarus, and the authors of the sanctions are getting what they deserve.”
Vyacheslav Volodin added, “Despite the fact that this year marks 24 years since the decision was made to create the Union State and allied relations, we are still at the beginning of our journey. The Union State potential is enormous, and we have by no means tapped it, so we will look for new forms of work and increase the efficiency of our co-operation formats. We believe this will definitely contribute to the relations between our peoples and countries.”
