Volfovich: military force is main argument in the system of checks and balances
The updated National Security Concept quite fully reflects the key trends in the transformation of modern risks, challenges and threats in the field of national security. In an interview with SB. Belarus Segodnya, State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich noted that as a result of the collapse of the existing world order and the transition to a multipolar world, military force is becoming the main argument in the system of checks and balances.
“The United States and its NATO allies – persistently promoting the policy of unjustified expansion of the alliance – have lost all sense of reality. Having set a course to include the territory of Ukraine in the zone of their so-called responsibility, they continue to push through the forceful scenario for settling the Ukrainian conflict in every possible way. Of course, no one is interested in the opinion of the Ukrainian people,” he said.
He also added that in order to achieve military superiority, NATO members are actively militarising, the combat potential of national armed forces is being built up, and the most modern weapons are being purchased. The military infrastructure is developing at an accelerated pace. Advanced bridgeheads are being created and improved for the advance placement and storage of weapons, ammunition, military equipment and reserves of NATO’s materiel.
“Our neighbours – Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic States – are still at the forefront of the destructive policy pursued by the collective West towards Belarus. Not being confident in the successful implementation of the ‘Ukrainian project’, the West views Poland as a key ‘bastion’ on the eastern flank. To meet the demands of their overseas supervisors, the Polish leadership openly set itself ambitious plans to create the most powerful ground forces in Europe. We know about the plans of the West and do not exaggerate. We objectively assess what is happening and, of course, take all necessary measures to prevent any threats, which are reflected both in the National Security Concept and in the draft of the new Military Doctrine,” said Aleksandr Volfovich.
