Visa-free zone for international business exchanges planned for establishment in Shanghai by 2030
The Chinese authorities intend to create a new zone of international business co-operation in Shanghai, where visitors from abroad will be able to stay without a visa for up to 30 days, TASS reports
According to the Xinhua News Agency, referring to the General Customs Administration of China, the area of 880 thousand square metres will be located next to Pudong International Airport. Foreigners arriving by invitation for business purposes will be able to stay there for 30 days without confirming their visas. For those who will move to this area from the airport, it is planned to organise an accelerated baggage security check.
The Chinese authorities believe this will create favourable conditions for short business meetings and negotiations and will contribute to increasing international business activity. It is reported that the creation of a pilot zone with all the necessary infrastructure will be completed by 2030.
Shanghai is one of China’s main business centres. It employs over 75,000 foreign-funded enterprises, 956 headquarters of various large companies and more than 560 R&D centres.
