Vetka residents to Aleksandr Lukashenko: thank you for peace!
Today the President of Belarus laid flowers in Vetka at a memorial sign dedicated to the settlements that ceased to exist as a result of the Chernobyl tragedy, and lit a candle in the Holy Transfiguration Church. Afterwards Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke warmly with the locals.
One of the women, a mother of four children, addressed the Belarusian leader with the following words, “I want to say a huge thank you on behalf of families with many children! I’m a citizen of Ukraine, and you gave me Belarus’ citizenship. I’m very proud of this. Thank you very much!”
“It’s great that you have four children!” said the Head of State.
During the conversation, people thanked Aleksandr Lukashenko more than once for a peaceful and calm life in the country.
“I don’t want to fight,” the President said to the loud applause of the audience.
“We don’t want either! We need peace! Thank you for peace, Aleksandr Grigoryevich!” people were talking.
“I’m always surprised when people start talking about the war. The Gomel and Brest regions have become front-line, but this does not mean that someone is going to come to us with a war,” Aleksandr Lukashenko reassured. “There are plenty of crazy people out there. What can we do... The war is going on there. Therefore, do not think that I want to launch some kind of war here.”
The President underlined that now only one thing is needed from people: everyone should work conscientiously in their place and produce high-quality products.
“Markets are as open as never before. Today we can become even richer and live better. We just need to pull ourselves together.”
