Verona Eurasian Economic Forum to be held in Samarkand, with focus on new logistics, food security and energy

Verona Eurasian Economic Forum has already become a tradition, and it will be hosted by Samarkand on November 3rd-4th, 2023

The ancient city has been chosen as a venue of the event not accidentally: for centuries, it has been a recognised centre of the Silk Road, a crossroads of cultures, a link between Europe and Asia. The city is a historical pearl of Uzbekistan and the whole of Central Asia, a traditional place of intersection and fruitful interaction of various peoples and cultures. Samarkand is intended to further play an important role in creating an atmosphere of trust and good-neighbourliness between China, India, Russia and the North Atlantic region, which is especially important in modern conditions.

The organisers note that the business-oriented forum creates unique conditions for free communication, business contacts and discussions. The format of the event will make it possible for representatives of private and public companies from dozens of countries to meet and exchange views on a wide range of issues.

Top officials of the largest companies and financial institutions, political and public figures, experts, diplomats from Europe and Asia, representatives of various international and regional organisations will speak at the thematic sessions for two days. In total, about a thousand people from dozens of countries are expected to participate.

During the two-day forum, experts will discuss current mechanisms of trade, investment and technological co-operation in a new international context, prospects for the development of raw materials and energy markets in modern conditions, the reorganisation of logistics and transport routes given the changing global realities.

In addition, the focus will be on the prospects of industrial and technological co-operation in the Greater Eurasia, ensuring the development of the agricultural sector and world food security, and the opportunities for environmentally-friendly agriculture.

The N.I.C.E. film festival of new Italian cinema – which has been introducing the novelties of Italian cinema to people all around the world for more than three decades – will be organised as part of the cultural programme, while popular Italian performers will sing at the Stars of Sanremo concert. In addition, an exhibition of ceramics from the twin-cities of Florence and Samarkand is also planned.

The Verona Eurasian Economic Forum was held for the first time in 2007 in Verona, Italy. In 2022, Baku became the host city of the event.
