Unmanned aerial vehicles produced by Belarus’ Academy of Sciences enjoy demand abroad
Unmanned aerial vehicles manufactured by the National Academy of Sciences are in demand in many countries of the world – as informed by the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vladimir Gusakov
In his talk with the Belarus 1 TV channel, Mr. Gusakov recalled that the Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems was established at Belarus’ NAS ten years ago, and the unmanned complexes developed since then range from small Busel-type vehicles to aircraft-type ones.
“They can perform a wide variety of functions, including monitoring and filming of forest areas, fires, floods and crops, and also military ones. We have about a dozen different types and forms. Sales to the domestic market are registered – though to a lesser extent: many orders are coming from abroad. The centre’s head is currently in India; he is negotiating a joint venture with this country. Actually, Indian specialists have studied unmanned complexes of a number of foreign manufacturers and somewhere prefer Belarusian developments. We sold our products to Vietnam, some states in Central Asia, and the former USSR members. There were negotiations with Egypt, and an agreement was reached. We are restoring these relations, and – most likely – our developments will be again delivered to Egypt,” Mr. Gusakov said.
According to the NAS Chairman, Belarusian unmanned aerial vehicles are a successful and competitive development. “Before the pandemic, our light-class drones were ranked third in the world – behind American and French – at the Abu Dhabi International Festival. They are completely Belarusian, including the software. The Academy of Sciences is able to develop microelectronic means to provide unmanned aerial systems, including surveying instruments, engines, and everything else,” he said.
