United Russian-Belarusian electricity market should start operating from January 1st, 2024
Russia and Belarus have settled their differences and expect to sign international agreements on a united electricity market – as noted by Russian Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Snikkars during Energy Expo exhibition, RIA Novosti reports
“All fundamental disagreements with the Republic of Belarus have been resolved. The remaining issues are largely organisational. We’ll now be waiting for the signing of international treaties and implement them,” said Pavel Snikkars.
According to the report, Minsk is actively working with Moscow on the formation of common markets for all types of energy and is now at the final stage of agreeing on the main documents on this issue.
Belarus’ Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich informed that in accordance with the Union State programme in the field of energy, the united Russian-Belarusian electricity market should start operating on January 1st, 2024.
