UN Chief: crisis in the world must be turned into moment of multilateral co-operation
The conflicts and tensions currently existing in the world must be turned into multilateral co-operation – as stated by UN Secretary General António Guterres, TASS reports
In the UN Secretary General’s address to the participants of the Dialogue – Guarantee of Peace international conference, which was read out by the UN Resident Co-ordinator for Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko, it is stated that, “In a world torn by conflict and tensions, the principles that underlie multilateral co-operation are under great strain. We need to transform this moment of crisis into a moment for multilateralism.”
Earlier, António Guterres has already focused on the fact that the world community is in crisis. According to him, conflicts have a negative impact on the life and well-being of countries, and ‘the crisis associated with rising costs of living has hit the most vulnerable the hardest. Trust in each other and in political leaders is crumbling’.
