Ukraine receives €2bn in aid from EU

Ukraine has received €2bn of macro-financial assistance from the European Union, which will be spent on urgent expenses in the social and humanitarian spheres – as noted by Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal, TASS reports

Denis Shmyhal noted, “Ukraine received €2bn of macro-financial assistance from the EU. The country received another tranche from the European Union aimed at maintaining the economic stability of Ukraine.”

The PM of Ukraine assured that the funds would be used to cover urgent budgetary expenses, including in the social and humanitarian spheres. Denys Shmyhal said that the allocated €2bn was the first part of the €5bn package.

“In general, this year, Ukraine received €4.2bn of macro-financial assistance from the EU, which significantly helped to strengthen the economic front of the state,” he added.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said that as of October, the Ukrainian army received military assistance from Luxembourg worth 15 percent of the country’s defence budget. At the same time, he turned to the authorities of the country with a request to supply Kiev with more weapons, as Ukrainian cities are attacked by combat drones.
