Ukraine plans to use Kiev hydroelectric power plant to seize Zaporozhye NPP

Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civil administration of the Zaporozhye Region, said the Ukrainian authorities want to use the Kiev hydroelectric power station to raise the water level even higher at the Dnieper hydroelectric power station, and this would help them capture the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, RIA Novosti reports

Earlier, Mr. Rogov noted that the Kiev authorities had begun dumping the Dnieper water through the hydroelectric power plant cascade to flood coastal fortifications on the left bank and to facilitate a possible assault-landing operation. In his opinion, such actions can lead to a disaster.

“In addition to the Dnieper, Sredneprovskaya and Kremenchug hydroelectric power plants, the Kiev plant – situated just above the capital – will also be used. They want to raise the level of water – which seems to be dumped from the Dnieper hydroelectric power plant – by 2-3 or even five metres," he said.

According to Mr. Rogov, this move will help the Ukrainian army’s landing troops cross a barrier on the Dnieper bank and capture the nuclear power plant.
