Ukraine may face bread shortage
Ukraine is facing a shortage of bread, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Ukrainian Minfin
The publication's website reads, “There is a real risk of bread shortages in Ukraine.”
As noted by Yurii Duchenko, the President of the Ukrainian Bakers’ Association and Director of Kyivkhlib JSC, prices for raw materials for bakery products have increased significantly in Ukraine over the past few months: flour has risen in price by 50 percent, and other ingredients – by about 20 percent. In conditions of a shortage of electricity, spending on equipment is constantly increasing, and logistics is also becoming more expensive.
According to the source, most enterprises are forced to work without profit or even operate at a loss in such conditions. If the situation persists, their activities will have to be stopped.
