UK economy showed zero growth in April
The country’s gross domestic product failed to grow during April compared to previous month, TASS reports
The report from the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) notes that this is primarily due to weather conditions: April became the rainiest in the UK in the last 12 years. As a result, construction output in the country dropped by 1.4 percent, and there was also a decline in retail trade turnover (-2.3 percent).
In late 2023, the UK slipped into a technical recession after two consecutive quarters of GDP decline. According to the results of Q1 2024, the country emerged from recession, demonstrating economic growth of 0.7 percent. In March, the UK economy grew by 0.4 percent compared to February.
