UK Ambassador: it is important not to minimise the trials that befell Belarusians during the war
Almost fifty diplomats have taken part in today’s commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the tragedy in Khatyn. The heads of foreign ministries accredited in Belarus have laid flowers at the Eternal Flame, and the British Ambassador to Belarus, Jacqueline Perkins, thanked the Belarusian side for its invitation to visit the place.
“This event highlights our common history and our common suffering. It seems to me important not to minimise the trials that befell Belarus during the war. The world may often not fully note all the suffering that the Belarusian people went through during the war years. I think it is important not to forget about it. I hope the common history will become the basis for further strengthening of our bilateral relations,” the diplomat said.
