According to the Haberturk TV channel, security personnel will have the authority to inspect belongings at the entrance to the terminal and the boarding area. They will check personal luggage and electronic devices. Thus, the rules for passenger screening will comply with the norms of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention).

A passenger who refuses to be screened will not be allowed to enter the airport or the departure area. During the inspection, prohibited items will be confiscated on the spot.

The changes also involve the introduction of fines (varying from $620 to $15,600), if the crew fails to report any violations during the flight. An operator can be penalised with about $1,800 fine for launching a quadcopter without permission or outside the permitted zones.

Currently, there are two security checkpoints at Turkish airports: at the entrance to the general access zone and the so-called clean zone after checking-in. They all have modern equipment. If necessary, luggage and passengers are checked manually.
