Trump ‘understands’ Russia’s demand of inadmissibility of Ukraine’s NATO membership

Speaking to journalists at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, US President-elect Donald Trump said he understands Russia’s concerns regarding Kiev’s intentions to join NATO, RIA Novosti reports

“Russia for many, many years, long before Putin, said: 'You could never have NATO involved with Ukraine'. Now, they've said … that's been, like, written in stone. Somewhere along the line Biden said no, they should be able to join NATO. Well, then, Russia has somebody right on their doorstep, and I could understand their feelings about that," Trump said.

In his opinion, the Ukraine conflict was a blunder by the current US President, Joe Biden, that led to people dying and cities being destroyed. Trump also pointed out that the incompetence of Biden’s administration was the reason for Russia’s decision to start the special military operation.

Donald Trump went on to say he would like to talk to Russia’s Vladimir Putin and suggested that could happen in the first six months after he takes office on January 20th.
