TikTok views law on social network’s possible ban in US as unconstitutional
The TikTok social network called the law on its possible ban in the United States unconstitutional and promises a lawsuit, RIA Novosti reports
A statement by the TikTok owners – published in connection with Biden’s signing a foreign aid package into law that includes a potential ban on TikTok in the US – reads, “This unconstitutional law is a TikTok ban, and we will challenge it in court. This ban would devastate seven million businesses and silence 170 million Americans. We have invested billions of US Dollars to keep US data safe and our platform free from outside influence and manipulation.”
Earlier it was reported that the House Committee on Energy and Trade has developed a draft law according to which China’s ByteDance is forced to divest its ownership of TikTok. Otherwise, the app will be banned in the US.
