Tasmagambetov: CSTO supports Minsk’s initiative to hold annual conference on Eurasian security

The CSTO supports Minsk’s initiative to hold a high-level conference on Eurasian security annually – as noted by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, BelTA reports

“It is important to underline that Belarus has always demonstrated an exceptionally responsible and proactive approach to participating in the CSTO. Many political and defence projects implemented within the organisation received an impetus precisely due to Minsk’s active stance. The CSTO Secretariat highly appreciated the constructive approach of the Belarusian colleagues, in particular, to resolving issues submitted for consideration during the meetings of the statutory bodies held in May-June 2024 in Almaty,” the CSTO Secretary General said.

“I think, the holding of a high-level conference on Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World – held in October 2023 in Minsk during Belarus’ presidency in the CSTO – deserves special attention among the recent major initiatives of the Belarusian side. The event became a landmark event, taking into account the composition of the participants and the results of the discussions. We support the initiative of Minsk, which intends to make this conference an annual event, and we believe that it may well become a Eurasian alternative to the Munich Security Conference,” Mr. Tasmagambetov stressed.
