Tambov Region Governor on co-operation prospects with Belarus in unmanned aircraft
One of the promising areas of co-operation between Belarus and Russia’s Tambov Region is unmanned aircraft – as noted today by Tambov Region Governor Maxim Yegorov after the meeting of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, with a delegation from this Russian region
Maxim Yegorov stressed that there’re many enterprises in the Tambov Region, including private ones, that deal with this topic, and he outlined the production of unmanned aerial vehicles for the agricultural sector as a key area, “There is something to work on. Belarus boasts interesting developments, and I hope we also have interesting developments. Our unmanned aerial vehicles can be used to monitor fields and apply fertilisers; there are also unmanned systems for controlling agricultural machinery.”
Speaking about interaction of Belarus in the framework of import substitution, the Head of the Tambov Region indicated that our countries are in the same position: sanctions have been imposed against both Belarus and Russia, “If we don’t help each other, we won’t be able to cope with this. Today the President of Belarus spoke about the fact that in the Soviet Union there were quite strong co-operative ties between the republics, regions and districts. Factories were built, and specialists moved. They lived and practically provided for themselves. We need to restore it all. The task set by our presidents is to provide for ourselves. For example, the Tambov Region is self-sufficient in terms of food; moreover, it exports a large amount of agricultural products to other regions of the Russian Federation. Products are also supplied to the Republic of Belarus.”
